MARLOW COURTYARD GARDEN SHORTLISTED FOR PROLANDSCAPER AWARD 2024

We’re so very pleased that this little courtyard garden made it onto the Prolandscaper Projects Award shortlist 2024. An example of what can be achieved in a small space – and why lawns aren’t for everyone!

So, what do we particularly love about this design? Other than its visual beauty.

The ratio of planting to hardscape: it’s pretty high, given the size of the plot. With two new multi-stem Prunus serrula trees and plants replacing lawn, the space is now rich in biodiversity.

A sympathetic material palette: this one references the surrounding landscape character – the subtle clay paver detail a nod to the local brick making history and the limestone paving aligning to the geology of the site. Materials are sourced with a lighter carbon footprint in mind. The footprint associated with garden builds is enormous, so it’s important that consideration is given to minimising this from the very start of the design process.

Wow factor is added through bespoke features, like the back-lit wall panel trio (the cut out design inspired by a walk through the Beech woods behind the property) and the purpose built bench.
